Centaurs Rugby Club (Derelict)

This ground is overgrown, with a derelict stand. A crying shame as it looks magnificently sad!
The pitches have been used in the last couple of years by West London Sharks, but they're on the main pitches next door, this season.

I have no idea if this was always a rugby ground, or if football was also played on it in the past.

..bloody hell..i played for this club back in ealy to mid 90's and the place was full of life...it's sad to see it in this state...it had 3 rugby fields and a lively club room under the grandstand...

My father played for Centaurs after WWII, if he were alive today he'd be heartbroken to see the level of decay that has consumed the grounds.

Apologies for depressing you both, but thanks for sharing your memories of the place.

you probably know this but on the 11th July 2009 UCSOBRFC will celebrate 30 years since their move from this ground to the school grounds in west hampstead, a move that saved the club but obviously not Osterly.......

Thank you anonymous. I didn't know that, I'm not actually a rugby union fan, but I hope a great time was had by all!

yes and I believe the school still own the ground......they have obviously forgotten to send someone to cut the grass recently.....but I imagine it will have houses on it soon, but the stand is a listed building so I am not sure what will happen to that ? first concrete cantilever sports stand ever built or something like that.....if it hasn't already been bulldozed who fancies a 'save the stand campaign' !!!!!!!???????

Hi, the stand hasn't been knocked down. It is grade II listed, one of the reasons why nobody wants to take it on. Also the land is listed and can only be used as playing fields. It was going to be bought and used by Goals for 5-a-side but they residents surrounding fought it (because of the floodlights). I was there just the other day, and its in such a bad state. I grew up going to centaurs, its a shame to see it like that. I have so many great memories. The club is now a "virtual Club" in that it has members, but they don't play games.

I think the ground has been bought by Goals and has now been restored by Thomas Vale Construction??

I grew up here in the early 90's. I was wondering who the first comment was from? I would have only been about 6/7 years old. My Names Siobhan Lavallee and I am really sad to see my old home looking like this.

I used to play mixed hockey here for Wembley Tigers in the mid 70s -Used to love the old rugby bath - us ladies would use it first, and let the guys follow, ensuring that we had heavily dosed the water with bubbles/perfumed bath stuff! The old bath was taken out in the late 70's - showers just aren't the same, though. You could have a real team bonding drink in the old bath,
Plenty of fit rugby hunks on the pitches around the hockey pitch, I seem to remember. Many Sunday evenings spent playing various darts games in the clubhouse.

Not sure if anyone will pick this up, but the stand has now been restored by Goals Soccer centres and has been landscaped. The grounds look great again and definitely worth a visit

is it still there, as it is in the pictures?
